We're pleased to announce the May 2026 release for Legal Bricks, focusing on compliance visibility with a new AML and ID tracking screen, improvements to the SDLT form, and a streamlined SIM ordering experience through the Land Registry API.
What's new
AML & ID order tracking screen
A new tracking screen is now available in LB Law for all AML and identity verification orders. You can view the status of every compliance check in one place, with the ability to download reports directly.
How to get there
From the main side menu, navigate to Tracking then select AML + ID Checks.
What you'll see
The tracking screen displays all AML and ID checks that have been ordered, including the case reference, type (AML or Biometric ID), client name, address, date ordered, and current status.
You can filter by Type, Status, Date Range, and Search By case reference. Use the Download Report button in the top-right corner to export the data.
ID documents at a glance
Where ID document information have been entered as part of the AML check, the ID Documents column will display an icon. Hovering over this icon gives you a quick preview of the entered information β such as the NI number β without needing to open the case.
Viewing details and downloading
Clicking View on any row takes you directly to the case, where you can see the full client related documents section, download the verification report, and check the invoice status.
Auto-populate SIM
SIM (Search of the Index Map) contact and search details are now automatically populated when ordering through the Land Registry API. This eliminates the need for manual entry and speeds up the ordering process.
The Contact Details step is pre-filled with the contact name, number, customer reference, and external reference from the case.
The Search Details step is pre-filled with the full property address, including house name/number, street, town, county, post code, and local authority.
Client details update post-instruction
For firms with CMS integration enabled, client details can now be updated in Legal Bricks after a case has been instructed. Previously, client information was locked once instruction was received β this change removes that restriction and supports workflows where details are confirmed or corrected later in the process.
SDLT tax calculation improvements
The SDLT form now supports manual override of the tax due calculation, giving users more control where automated figures need adjusting. We've also resolved an issue where the automatic calculation was incorrectly displayed for leasehold transaction types, and corrected the SDLT Vendor Agent list display.
Related case history toggle
A new Include Related Case History toggle has been added to the case history view. When enabled, you'll see history from linked matters alongside the current case, giving a more complete picture of activity across related transactions.
Fee earner and case assistant sorting
Fee earners and case assistants are now sorted alphabetically on the case settings selector, making it quicker to find and assign the right team member.
Bug fixes
This release also includes a number of targeted fixes:
Shared ownership quotes β Selecting "Shared Ownership" no longer incorrectly disables the Generate button.
AP1 tracking β Fixed pagination and filtering issues on the AP1 tracking screen, and resolved an issue preventing AP1 submission for specific cases.
Fee scale updates β Changes to fee scales now correctly pull through to quotes.
Quote display β House prices and purchase address headers now display correctly on sale and purchase quotes.
Client questionnaire β Restored missing buttons so clients can submit and sign forms.
Client Care Letter β The letter now correctly pulls through data from the quote.
Identity checks β Biometric checks can now be ordered for international addresses and from the client section.
Dark mode β Corrected visibility issues across confirmation pages, SDLT messages, insurance order summaries, and search order address entry.
Security patches β Applied critical dependency updates addressing multiple CVEs.
How to access this update
All users will see the changes automatically β no action is required.
