This month we're focused on Post Completion — bringing our SDLT form in line with HMRC's latest business rules. Alongside this, we've shipped a wide range of quality, performance, and security improvements across the platform.

SDLT Updated to HMRC Business Rules V2.6a

The Stamp Duty Land Tax form now aligns with HMRC's latest business rules. Highlights:

  • Updated field validation across Transaction, Vendor, and Purchaser sections

  • Improved relief code validation — selecting a relief reason now correctly checks property type and consideration amount eligibility

  • First-Time Buyer Relief threshold is now maintained centrally — no software update needed when HMRC changes the limit

  • Related fields are automatically re-checked when key values such as total consideration amount change

  • Clearer error messages on date and currency fields

  • Maximum selection limits enforced on checkboxes where required

  • Additional data quality checks on VAT registration and lease-related fields

This release also fixes an issue where invalid UK postcodes were not flagged before submission, preventing HMRC rejection errors.

Performance, Stability & Security

We've made the platform faster and safer to use. Several areas of Legal Bricks — including the Office Branches display, Quotes Tracking, and a range of Settings screens — now load and respond more quickly. We've also strengthened how the system handles data behind the scenes, so you should encounter fewer unexpected errors during everyday use.

On the security side, we've tightened access controls so case, property, quote, and client data is only available to users within the right referrer organisation, and applied the latest security patches and penetration test fixes to keep your data protected.

Bug Fixes

  • SDLT Postcode Validation – Invalid UK postcodes are now flagged in the SDLT form before submission, preventing HMRC rejections.

  • Biometric Identity Check Re-Ordering – Clients can now successfully complete a biometric identity check when it has been re-ordered after a previous attempt was cancelled.

  • Date of Birth Field – Resolved an issue where the date of birth field was showing as invalid.

  • Land Registry Official Copies – Resolved a formatting issue on Official Copies returned from Land Registry.
